Jamie is a Massachusetts-born white, cis, female Harm Reductionist who uses drugs and is in recovery from chaotic addiction. She is an artist and writer who creates her artwork both on digital platforms and analogue, through painting, drawing, collage, and multimedia forms. The main focus of her work is to normalize and reduce the stigma of drug use, dispel myths, promote safer drug consumption, and center the fact that drug user rights are human rights. She seeks to use art as a visual medium to validate, empower, and uplift drug users, show the humanity behind the use of substances, which is an amoral, common, and normal human behavior.

Her current and future work is to integrate theories of Harm Reduction with new ways to manage and treat Trauma, under the belief that substance use is just one of many coping skills people turn to in order to survive and/or thrive. She seeks to expand the understanding that most, if not all people living in modern times are undergoing the trauma of living under capitalism, and are deserving of compassion, connection, and caring as a means to heal from the many ways we are impacted by a society that upholds wealth and power over humanity’s mental and physical well-being at macro and micro levels. She lives in Eastern Mass with her cat Billie and can be found on Instagram @celestialheartbreak
